Why does the surface of the cotton become rough after the dye is dyed directly?

From: FAQ | Date:2020/3/11 | Hit:

Direct dyeing requires the use of salt to promote dyeing, and after the cotton cloth absorbs a lot of salt, the hand feels rough! In addition, the direct dye has poor color fastness and requires the use of a fixing agent, and the fixing agent forms a resin on the surface of the fabric, which also affects the roughening of the hand.
The way to overcome is to wash a few more hot water after dyeing, and add softener if necessary.
