soluble in ethanol, acetone and benzene. Brown in concentrated sulfuric acid, red brown after dilution; orange solution in concentrated nitric acid, yellow after dilution. When hydrochloric acid is added into the dye aqueous solution, the color will not change; when 10% sodium hydroxide is added, orange precipitate will appear. The application is similar to C.I. solvent Brown 12.

Preparation method: treat 3 moles of m-phenylenediamine hydrochloride with 2 moles of nitrous acid (this product may be a mixture with the above-mentioned diazo dye as the main component, and the commercial dye is usually composed of dihydrochloride), and make free alkali reference: GB PB 25625, 883-4
