Appearance is red powder. It is soluble in water and red. It is slightly soluble in ethanol and cellosolve, and insoluble in other organic solvents. It is purple when concentrated sulfuric acid, reddish orange after dilution; yellow solution in concentrated nitric acid. The concentrated hydrochloric acid is red, and the sodium hydroxide is brown.

Acid Red 18 Use condition:

1. Acid Red 18 is mainly used for dyeing wool, silk, nylon and its blended fabrics. It can also be used for dyeing leather, paper, wood, medicine and cosmetics, as well as ink.

2. Wool dyeing should be carried out in a strong acid or weak acid bath. The pH value of the dyeing solution is adjusted to 3~5. The addition of Yuanming powder is used to slow the dyeing effect. The highest dyeing temperature when using acetic acid as the dyeing agent is 95~100 °C. When the wool is dyed in the same bath as the various fibers, the nylon is colored, the silk is lightly colored, and the cellulose fibers are not stained.

3. Acid Red 18 (Acid red 3R) dyeing fastness is poor, color brightness is not as good as acid red G, leveling is also poor, so it is rarely applied on textiles, generally replaced by other acid red.

Mainly used for wool, silk, polyamide fiber and its blended fabric dyeing, also can be used for leather, paper, plastic, wood, medicine and cosmetics of dyeing, still can make the ink.
